The Victorian Government has purchased the General Motors Holden (GMH) site at Fishermans Bend in Port Melbourne, paving the way for the development of a leading design and engineering precinct. The Victorian Government’s vision is to create a design, engineering and technology hub for aerospace, defence, marine and automotive design to create thousands of high value jobs.

Fishermans Bend has been home to Victorian manufacturing, and the home of Holden, for more than 80 years. The entire site is 37.7 hectares and is located just 5 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD.

The former GMH site will become the centrepiece of the Fishermans Bend Employment Precinct.
