In addition to the exemplary work being done by Victorian SMEs, the Victorian Government also signed two significant MoUs at IP25. The new deals will back our defence industry workforce, which supports over 29,000 jobs across and contributes more than $10.9 billion in annual expenditure in Victoria.

Rolls-Royce and Victorian Government MoU

Rolls-Royce has powered the UK Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines for more than 65 years and is expanding its Derby site to support UK and Australian defence programs. Rolls-Royce is the only private company in the world with the ability to design, manage, manufacture and decommission reactors within one single entity.

Under the MoU, the Victorian Government will work with Rolls-Royce to facilitate supply chain opportunities for Victorian companies and support Victoria’s contribution to AUKUS Pillars 1 & 2, developing the workforce’s skills and technology.

H&B Defence and Victorian Government MoU

H&B Defence is a joint venture between the USA’s largest military ship builder Huntington Ingalls Industries and British defence engineering company Babcock International Group. The company was established to support the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine program.

Under the MoU, H&B Defence will work with the Victorian Government to support global market access for Victorian businesses and attract new defence-related investments to grow Victoria’s industrial base.

The MoU will also support increased collaboration with education and training providers to pilot new defence-focused skills programs and deliver supply chain uplift programs to support Victorian businesses to better comply with US and UK shipbuilding requirements.

SYPAQ - Amiga Engineering on Corvo X partnership

Victorian defence businesses SYPAQ Systems and Amiga Engineering announced that they will partner on Corvo X production under the Australian Army’s DEF129 Uncrewed Aerial System Program.

Fresh off Amiga’s success at the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards, where it won both Apprentice of the Year and Small Business of the Year, the company is one of many sovereign Australian Defence companies that SYPAQ is partnering with to deliver the DEF129 — Uncrewed Aerial System Program.

Corvo X has been developed in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force over a number of years — with its design, manufacture and support to be completed in Victoria.

ARKEUS have recently been selected to provide Wide Area Airborne Surveillance capability to the Australian Army fleet of Tactical Uncrewed Aerial Systems.

ARKEUS specialises in innovation of autonomous optical capabilities to deliver transformative Search, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (SISR) effects.
