Greg Combet AM is Victoria's first Defence Industry Advocate, appointed in April 2016.
Drawing on his extensive knowledge and understanding of the Australian defence industry, Greg represents Victoria on defence industry matters, advocates Victoria’s interests to key stakeholders nationally and internationally, and provides the State Government with strategic advice on defence industry related issues.
Greg is the Chair of the Defence Council Victoria, which advises the Victorian Government on strategies to develop and sustain Victoria's defence industry capabilities.
During his high profile and successful six years in Cabinet, Ministerial and Parliamentary Secretary roles in the Australian Government, Greg was Minister for Industry and Innovation, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency and Minister for Defence Personnel, Science and Materiel.
Prior to this he held the role of Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Secretary for eight years and Assistant Secretary for six years before that.
Greg is Deputy Chair of IFM Investors, Deputy Chair of Industry Super Australia and a Director of ME Bank.
